To the Shakatak which i didn’t ever see u : Nevermind!

I came lately with Owi but i still saw some remarkable show.

First, i headed to Betawi Terrace at second floor, for Deti and her sister had been watching over there before. And also I want to hear west composition. At the stage : a Singapore pianist – The Jeremy Montero and two-time Grammy Award winner – Ernie Watts played intense jazz soul with beautifully improvisation. The saxophone master who has recorded more then 500 songs over his music career seems not too bad opening my attending here. Relieving!

Gilang, Indra Lesmana and Pra (P.I.G) played so hard until i couldnt get it. Maybe it’s a wonderful composition for Jazzer maniacs, but not me … :P. It’s too complex. So I went to Ondel-ondel Stage – the biggest outdoor stage – for Dwiki Dharmawan was playing amusingly with his “World Peace Project”. He played with white keyboard-guitar (or so called keytar) style (maybe Roland AX-7?) like Car Park North. So fast as he looked like a guitar player. Wowh!!

Finishing touch, thanks to the Idang Rasjidi Syndicate whose performance was amazing. Duet with Kemala Ayu they played nicely. Closing the JakJazz 2006 on that morning ( it’s 2.00.am) in peak performing band, I was so entertained. An interactive show with several improvisation, one to one skill hard played, that made me smile and also wander.

Not too worried about the musicians, i juzt want to give some notice to the EO.

  1. I came to that place with my friend previously tickets… 😛 She left the show but she gave (actually Owi gave me) the ticket which was stamped with some ‘JakJazz’ mark to indicate if audience may wanted to enter the show again. Also on her skin too (at the hand). It is a common way for the panitia of ticketed concert to give mark (usually an ink stamp) to the audience skin as an indicator if they want to come in again.
Thus, they have to show their ticket too as a second indicator, if the first one is fail. And, with a little dirty trick with permanant black Boardmarker felt-tip- marker, i passed it successfully. There was no mechanism to remember who was leaving the show and willing to come back again.
It’s difficult, from my experience too, to determine which audience is leaving from the show for temporary and then come back again, because its too exhausted and vain due to the amount of the audience.
  2. When i saw the Bussway Stage, I smiled bad odour. It’s like garbage scent. And, it’s so irritating! I did realized that there is a lot of garbage everywhere. Not helped with their theme “Jazz in the park” and the “trendy gaul abiz” people scene.
  3. When I was arriving, there were a little chaotic crowd near panitia tent with some hysterical women did over here and there. Me, who was attracted, tried to came closer soon, but after knew what’s going on, I was dissapointed. It was a ‘bagi-bagi barang sisa’ for all the panitia with ‘siapa cepat dia dapat’ procedure. It was a magazine, poster, etc that not belong to me as audience. It was embarrassing thing to be showed in front of public. Or while the show wasn’t finish yet.
  4. There would be more interesting if in early gate i see ‘Who plays What at Where’ at that time. So, I might not to see the schedule one by one from the booklet. Maybe they could use some multimedia to display the schedule instead. Or maybe just written paper posted at the information panel.

Last but not least, was the ticket price. The cheapest ticket for daily pass is Rp 225.000,-. Something, obviously I couldnt afford for it. Can’t jazz event be more ‘reachable for everyone’? Hupz… and maybe u wanna know how muct ticket price for George Benson last week concert? It only cost you Rp 1.000.000,- for the Gold and Rp 1.500.000 – 2.000.000 for Platinum 🙂 . Im still a man with mind. Then : No, thank you.

That’s will be all.
